Ever since I started doing research on deodorants & antiperspirants I came to find that nearly all of them contain aluminum salts, which is absorbed into the body. Aluminum is an extremely powerful neurotoxicant (i.e., toxic to the nervous system) & there have been proven links between aluminum & Alzheimer’s disease although many try to debunk that aluminum does NOT cause AD. AD hits home for me because my maternal grandfather is currently a sufferer of dementia. Aluminum is not only toxic, it is a skin irritant. Being a redhead with extremely sensitive skin, I can attest to this. Once I found that the use of the typical deodorants & antiperspirants may also be linked to breast cancer, I made the choice to use natural underarm products. Having tried numerous natural underarm products, I found they didn’t hold up. My research led me to a wonderful site called Oyin Handmade & their natural deodorant Funk Butter.

I ordered a jar of the unscented since my skin is so sensitive & it arrived packaged beautifully about a week ago. Since then, I’ve had many opportunities to test it out in the extreme heat of summer, even while working in my garden in this sweltering weather. Although it doesn’t stop you from perspiring, it most definitely keeps the underarm area smelling sweet throughout the entire day! I am very pleased with Oyin’s Funk Butter & will be purchasing it regularly.
