My absolute favorite website for personalized news is without a doubt Thoof.com! Thoof is different than other personalized news sites in the sense that other members & readers can vote on the various news stories & throw in their opinions as to what they like or do not wish to read. In allowing it’s users to vote, Thoof can then use the information to provide stories that are truly worth reading. The personalization algorithm they gleam from the voting results allows for personalization of the website from your very first visit. The voting also allows for a distinction from other news websites because it prevents the “angry mob” from determining relevance & controlling the distribution of the various news articles.

Some of my favorite Thoof features include the “pageless” stories frontpage which allow for more stories to appear as you scroll down the page, color coding to determine which stories I have read & those that I haven’t read yet, & most of all the ability to submit my own stories & articles to Thoof. When you submit your own stories, you will be given a ThoofRank Badge which tells you how popular your story is. Submitting also gives your website or blog traffic boosts!
